Waystream, a Swedish vendor of access switches for fibre to the home (FTTH) networks, introduces two new series of access switches to the German market at ANGA COM 2019: The MS7000 and the ASR8000 series, to be used by city network operators, are available with 24 and 48 ports and feature an extended temperature range of -20°C to +70°C. This makes field deployment in street cabinets, centralized PoPs, and central office locations essential application areas. Both series allow for redundant power feed to the units for higher availability by offering dual power connectors. Whereas the MS7000 series supports up to 2.5 Gbit/s, the ASR8000 features up to 10 Gbit/s connection speed.
As fibre deployment is currently picking up in countries such as Germany and Austria, network operators now have the opportunity to catch up and even surpass fibre nations in Scandinavia. “Our new line of access switches builds on the experience from 20 years of building FTTH networks”, says Fredrik Nyman, Product Manager at Waystream.
Fibre broadband networks often require access equipment to be installed into tough environments, where lack of cooling or proper airflow puts additional strain on the technical equipment. High density is also important to maximize the use of available space. Both the new MS7000 and ASR8000 series address these issues.
Waystream partner braun teleCom, supplier of sophisticated products and solutions for HFC and FTTx broadband networks, supports the new products. “Our customers ask for higher port density, extended temperature range and future-proof speeds. With Waystream’s new MS7000 and ASR8000 series we can offer the market dedicated FTTH switches that meet the growing requirements”, says Hanno Telgen, Director Product & Project Management at braun teleCom. “We are excited to introduce the products to our FTTH customers, as we already know of several companies that are interested in testing the new solutions.”
